After a three-day journey we arrived in Chimala yesterday evening and were greeted warmly by all present (those with me are still not exactly sure what day of the week it is and our body clocks definitely are in “reset” mode). Upon arrival Cheryl gave us the instructions for “when not IF” the electricity fails and how to switch to the generator. We were given instructions about the internet, mosquito netting and all other operational items. The delicious evening meal was prepared and a large group gathered to share the meal and get to know one another.
A note from Gif…When Jesus sent the twelve apostles out in Matthew 10 he said, “Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, or a bag for your journey, or even two coats, or sandals, or a staff.” Though we did not intend to follow this command ourselves, our airline took decided to take matters into their own hands and leave mine and Simba’s bags in Amsterdam. Fortunately, I had 16 cups of coffee over 4 different flights and I’m on my second one this morning so today’s going to be a great day! Chimala is beautiful and we are ready to get out and see all there is to see here as the week progresses.”
I’ll put some photos below of those here and add more in the next report! We are up and going to a breakfast prepared by Carol Rogers and then the day’s activities are crammed full.
Continue to pray for us as we continue in this mission.
