Report #13 — Sept. 29, 2018

In the above photo: L to R Andrew, Gif, Tanya, John, Ruslan, Simba. We arrived in Lviv, Ukraine after a very long train ride. The first priority was a good meal!

We have now arrived in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. The train connections from Zaporozhye could not take us to Ivano-Frankivsk so we had to go to Lviv and then a 2-hour car ride to Ivano-Frankivsk! We were met by Ivan, Andrew and Ruslan. It was great to see them. We went to a café that was used by the underground resistance in opposing Russia and Germany. It is decorated with the paraphernalia associated with the past resistance operations (short-wave radios, machine guns, various weapons, etc.).

Both Simba and Gif were awed at being able to order a “half-meter long” sausage. Here is Simba as he is about to enjoy it!

Following our meal, we loaded up and headed to Ivano-Frankivsk. As we finished buying water and necessary food we were delivered to our lodging. The sunshine had been brilliant during the day but as I pulled out my suitcase darkness had fallen.

This Lord’s Day Gif will be preaching and Simba will have the Lord’s Supper devotional. Following the assembly, we hope to be able to host a congregational fellowship meal. The activities for our time prior to the arrival of the large Dalraida group are planned and the schedule looks full. In the conversation driving from Lviv to Ivano-Frankivsk Ivan shared some of the plans and the preparation that has been made. As usual there will be some hiccups and roadblocks but hopefully these will have minimal impact.

Continue to pray for us as we continue in this mission.
John L. Kachelman, Jr.
