Report #1—Sept 30/Oct 1, 2019

Greetings from Kyiv, Ukraine! I arrived earlier today and was greeted with cool weather and true autumn! What a refreshing change from the 98° F actual temps and heat temp of 103° F left in Montgomery!

The trip went about as well as such can go and the best news is that the arduous travel is over! ?

Upon arriving I have been constantly busy in discussing and reviewing actions that are the focus of this trip. The first group has already been involved in Ivano-Frankivsk and the second group will arrive October 12.

One event I missed in traveling was the loading of 105 hospital beds from a nursing home in Booneville, MS. Charita once again came from New Jersey and was present to coordinate the loading with the paperwork. We were to load TWO containers with the hospital beds. Here is a snippet of an email she sent me:

“Again I was shocked and impressed by southerners.  We had over 40 people show up, so unloading of new beds went fast and smooth. There were three different churches of Christ involved and they started at 8 am. Most did stay to assist loading and taking apart old beds, that came out in the excellent condition.  Because we had so many people, both of our containers got loaded in less than 2 hours. We had to call for people not to come in for the second container.”

– Charita

I’m not sure who the three congregations were that turned out to help but I will share their name as soon as I can.

Tomorrow’s morning will come early and the day is crammed full!

Pray for our on-going efforts!
