Report #10—October 13, 2019

The Lord’s Day in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine dawned with a chilling 35F but it quickly warmed up to a nice fall day. We began early as we were to be at the train station to greet the nine coming from Dalraida. Their 4 missing bags have been found BUT they are in Kyiv and we are being told there was no directive to send them into Ivano-Frankivsk. But those instructions were definitely given by Gif. These bags are CRITICAL to our operations so we pray they get delivered before our Tuesday sessions begin!

The travel weary team of nine off-loaded from the train looking energetic. They all said the train ride was great and they slept. After worship and visiting the construction site and several other activities the energy from the early morning train had vanished. As we walked back to the hotel it was announced supper at 6:30. Maggie asked what time it was and then moaned, “That’s only an hour and half and I want a nap and a shower and there’s no time for both!” The others were equally feeling the travel. Below is a photo of Chip and Doug as they arrived in the early morning and below that is a photo of Chip and Doug about the same time Maggie was bemoaning the lack of time for a nap and shower…

Our worship was wonderful and uplifting. Doug preached a very good lesson on how the local Church is comprised of each member’s ability. Each member has a value and no one member is any more important than the others. His lesson sets the foundations for the evening classes and tabletop discussions this week about congregational autonomy and leadership principles in each member’s influence.

Today was the first time that Ruslan and Maria had brought little David out for the assembly. He is a precious baby and all adore him!

Tomorrow will be a day spent in the Village Zelena. This is the location where Doug and Caleb will be assigned this week. We are told there is a good interest there and a good number want to hear lessons on New Testament Christianity.

It has been a long and exhausting day over here but it has been a wonderful day in a number of different ways, especially in the time we were able to be together with brethren. I hope that your worshipping assemblies were uplifting and honoring God as they followed His strict commands!

Pray for our on-going efforts!
