Report #11—October 14, 2019

Photo: Today we visited the Village Zelena. Doug and Caleb will be going there early in the morning to begin work that is hoped to establish a congregation in that area. We were shown a structure that is being made available for the congregation’s assembly if our efforts are successful.

The best news of the day arrived as we were on the road. Our lost bags have arrived and now we are supplied to begin full activities Tuesday morning!

Doug and Chip showed up at breakfast looking completely rested. I wanted to show you their photo—much better than last night!

Today was a triple holiday in Ukraine and all official businesses were closed. So, we could not visit schools, children’s homes, elderly hostels, or any of the actions we had previously planned. So, it was decided to go to Zelena and visit those who are assisting our efforts. This location has received a number of items from shipments. Ivan has had studies with a number and two families are very interested in the gospel. But there is a barrier where it is thought our efforts are used merely to get the villagers’ trust and then we will somehow punish them. This lingering suspicion is the result of the enmity of the western villages with Russia.

Today was a real village life treat as we met wonderful folks, enjoyed amazing foods, and even were treated to the freshest milk you can ever et—the cow was milked in front of us and it was served still warm! Several remarked to me that they would never forget this day!

Fresh Milk!

We left having established a wonderful friendship with a number of people. The classes that Caleb and Doug will present were discussed and are eagerly anticipated.

Tuesday begins our full schedules. All are ready! All supplies are in hand!

Pray for our on-going efforts!

John L. Kachelman, Jr. Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine

And I have to post this from Elizabeth’s adventures in the village…”I knew I should have gone with the other group the other way. I will NEVER forget this day…
