Construction Up-Date—the baptistery is being installed! September 21, 2020

Greetings, dear brothers and sisters. Thank you for your great reports that you post on Dalraida’s site. They encourage the Church here. It hurts us to see such a bad hurricane that is hitting you. We can see on YouTube so many people and buildings that suffered from it. We pray to God on your behalf, asking Him to have mercy and protect people. We always thank God for all of you and especially now do we pray for America. May the Lord extend His mercy to all of us.

We assembled for our Sunday worship yesterday. Some people are still afraid to come to church because of the pandemic and join us online. Ivano-Frankivsk city and the Region used to be the red zone, which meant we had highest numbers of infections. But some restrictions have been lifted today and we are now moved to the orange zone. Children have gone back to school and businesses can be more active now.

This is a picture of our baptistery. We have almost completed it. We still need to put tiles and run water. We hope to have it all done by the end of the month. The construction was halted because of the pandemic and because we had very little money to work on construction. The congregation here continues to give as generously as they can. While it is a little, we can personally see progress. We had hoped to be in the building by winter but we are still hindered from getting certificate for occupancy. Please join us in prayer that God will help us finish the requirements for occupancy. Please help us contact others who are able to donate for the building’s completion. God can help us finish and be occupants! Please help.

We continue as best we can to serve the Lord in this location. Please read our last reports on success that the Lord is providing for our labors. We are ready for the coming containers. I’ll go to the HAC Committee when we have all docs translated. We have been already assured that all will give their approval unanimously.

Dear brothers and sisters, yesterday the men of the congregation discussed a possibility to take the whole Church to the mountains for a short retreat over a weekend to have encouraging Bible studies. We plan for October 2-4. We are getting ready for it now. Every man will teach 15-20-minute Bible classes on some uplifting topic. We need our spirits lifted up. There’s a lot of negative information on TV. Besides, we’re having our elections at the end of October and all candidates trash one another, which discourages and disheartens people further more. The Church here is in dire need of encouragement and positive outlook. What do you think about this idea? Could you join with us? It would be wonderful if brothers or sisters from America would come to teach. But with pandemic it is not possible now. We do need some financial support so that we will have enough to feed people. We have collected some money to pay for most lodging but we need money for food. This will be a rewarding fellowship for us and strengthen our faith.

These are my thoughts. May the Lord keep you, your family and the beloved Christians safe. We yearn for your visit! With love, Ivan Skoleba
