Report #19 – March 26, 2021

This will be the last report you read until I send you a report of my safe return to Montgomery, AL! It has been a very good trip and I believe every day we enjoyed snow and temps below freezing.

I am now in Lviv and will remain here until my return flight takes me out Sunday morning. I should return to Atlanta Sunday night and be back in Montgomery after the ride home.

Tonight I met with Ivan and Andrew. They have been meeting with various authorities in Ivano-Frankivsk discussing how the changing laws will impact our efforts in shipping benevolent aid into this Region. The laws are written to counter those who use humanitarian aid as a cover to get rich off of the shipments. The new rules are pretty strict. Sadly, many of those who have been identified as profiting from selling humanitarian aid are religious organizations. This is why some say that Churches cannot distribute humanitarian aid any longer. I have personally heard from contacts of this evil occurring.

Ivan and Andrew said they had met with the Governors and Deputies. Without exception they were told that we do NOT have the reputation that these other groups have. We will be able to continue as we have always as long as we follow the laws. The laws are not onerous but are principles that any Christian would naturally follow. It was encouraging to hear that our efforts are so well-spoken by those in the highest levels of governing. There are still some who want to follow the old Communistic pattern and these continue to give us headaches. But as is the case with headaches, these will be terminated.

Today I went to get the COVID-19 test that will allow me to travel. I went to the clinic and said I needed a COVID test. They asked why I needed it and I said it was because of travel. They took my passport and entered the data and said, “A negative is no problem, please give $20.00.” And I walked out with a negative test! That sure was a better price than I got in Montgomery for a negative travel COVID test…now I just wonder if this will work any better than the first one worked!

Thank you for your interest, concerns and prayers!
