Report #10—October 5, 2021

Featured Photo: In this photo is part of the items brought. We delivered COVID-19 items to the school in Mykulychyn, Ukraine where 840 students attend.

What a day today has been! This is going to be a very short report. The day began with involvement on three continents; loading a container for Moldova and unloading a trailer full of hand sanitizer. The container loading was in Montgomery, AL where five guys stuffed a container (https://worldofconnections.org/home/f/project-129mol1121–montgomery-alabama—tiraspol-moldova scaled at almost 20,000 lbs and valued at $150,000!) and then unloaded 27 pallets of hand sanitizer.

On this side of the Atlantic we continue busy with various actions. We had received a request from the Mykulychyn School to help furnish COVID-19 items that are required in order for the school to remain open. In a sense it was irritating because every thing requested I have back in Montgomery in our warehouse but I cannot get the government of Ukraine to cooperate with us in shipping these items. By hook or crook we managed to get a supply of items requested. They had begged for masks but the price of masks in the stores was absurd. After calling a contact we found masks for 50 kopecks (pennies) where the stores had them for 2.50 grivenas (dollars). We were given directions on where to go and pulled up at an apparently abandoned warehouse. After several contacts to get access, we were loaded up, paid up (in cash) and on our way. Here is a photo I quickly took of this location:

We made it to Mykulychyn, unloaded and enjoyed a great lunch as guests of the Mayor.

The traveling duo of Chip & Caleb have been in communication today. They hope to get their negative test papers so they can depart USA on Friday. Today I arranged for their connecting flight to Lviv, then transport from Lviv to Ivano-Frankivsk and their hotel. Caleb will hardly have time to stop as he will get into Ivano-Frankivsk around 1:30 am on Sunday, crash sleep for a few hours then preach at the Sunday assembly and then go to Zelena where he will lodge until he returns on Friday to go to Kyiv and return to Montgomery on Saturday! Chip will stay located in Ivano-Frankivsk and will be involved in follow-up visits, Bible classes, personal Bible studies with contacts from his last visit and making various meetings that I was unable to make while here.

A number of other activities were squeezed into the day. But now the day is over for me!

My plans for going to Zeloena tomorrow have been changed again. Tomorrow I’m to meet with Mayor Lubov in Ugorniky and go to a children’s shelter. Before going to the children’s shelter, I need to find toothpaste, soap and other hygiene items the children need. This is the emergency shelter that I have visited in previous trips. So, I’ll remain in Ivano-Frankivsk all Wednesday and then go to Zelena on Thursday! At least that is the plan of the moment.

Good night!

Thank you for your prayers and financial support that makes this mission trip possible!
