Trip Report #3–April 12, 2023

We have finally reached Ivano-Frankivsk. So, from now on all reports will come with the footer of Ivano-Frankivsk except for when I will make some stops in southwestern Poland on the way to Warsaw.

In the photo: Tanya and Valery wait on me and Perry as we continue our journey from Warsaw, Poland to Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine.

We left Warsaw early this morning and have been on the road for 10+ hours. A friend has assigned us a car and driver for the trip. The driver’s name is Valery. He has been involved in driving these errands ever since Russia’s invasion. The services are donated as a favor. When he knew I was coming he assured me that there would be no problem with safety and security. This time he chuckled saying, “The car this time looks nice but even a tank cannot stop it and plus it has some surprises that you will find maybe interesting.”

Sitting in the back seat the long trip and lingering jet-lag conquered me. The stuffed doggie you see has been Valery’s traveling companion ever since he evacuated a group of children from the east and one of the children left “doggie” in the vehicle he was driving and was not discovered until the next morning. Valery says “doggie” has been his companion on 2,000+ kilometers! Last October I had “doggie” accompanying me on my visits.

Perry and I have settled into the hotel!

Beginning in the morning the work finally begins…I have a long list of to-do actions that must be completed. We plan to meet with Ivan at lunch and make specific plans for the next few days.

Perry’s Brief Note…

“We left Warsaw @ 9am and spent about an hour at the border. All went well and arrived in Ivano-Frankivsk at 8pm.”

Continue praying for our efforts! “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; that I may make it clear in the way that I ought to proclaim it.” (Colossians 4:2-4)
