Fall Trip Report #10 PT Clinic Study

Featured Photo: Through our distributions a number of doors have opened for the gospel. The weekly Bible Classes at a physical therapy clinic illustrates this action.

We continue a weekly Bible study at one of the physical therapy clinics in Ivano-Frankivsk. In this study, Gif let me lead the discussion. Our lessons are planned for this class to be basic and encouraging so those struggling to overcome traumas in life will have hope. In last week’s class Gif’s discussion was over two-hours. Our class tonight was over an hour. The residents come from all over Ukraine and in this class we had 6-7 different Regions represented.

My biblical text was Philippians 4:4-7. This was new group of residents and it was their first class session. We discussed “peace” and how the peace of Christ is totally different from the peace offered by the world.

The good thing…at first, we were asked to have a brief time of Scripture reading and prayer that would be 15-20 minutes. The desire was for the Bible to be presented so that the residents would start reading and studying their Bibles so they would learn to trust on God during the difficult rehab times. Gif began the sessions by honoring that request. However, thanks to his approach and presentations the class has EAGERLY evolved into a much longer period and the interest is really good. The topics of discussion have shown a deep interest in biblical matters.

As we continue this class it is helping us to develop the approach that we will use in other rehabilitation centers. We continue to discuss with various officials the great need to help rehab not only the physical and emotional body but more importantly the spiritual body. It is exciting to see the reaction from almost every level of administration. The format and approach of this weekly study is being carefully monitored and I am receiving good feedback. This is helping to develop a viable strategy for the Church’s work in the future as this will allow us to touch tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of lives!
