Fall Trip Report #14 Volunteers

Featured Photo: The photo is of a group of volunteers who come together several times a week to sew various items needed in the war.

I have the wonderful opportunity of meeting with several volunteer groups. The majority are retired and have sons or grandsons in the military. They are eager to do anything to assist the war efforts and to remind their service family how much they are appreciated.

In the photos below you can see the activity of a group of volunteers busily making items needed for the wartime. Among these are:

  • Camouflage netting that will be used to cover items against drone surveil and targeting
  • Camouflage helmet covers (in one photo you will see me and Tamara, coordinator for this group)
  • Candles are made by putting paraffin into empty tin cans. These are used not only for lighting but the candles will provide heat for a small area. As I entered the working area, I saw boxes of cleaned tin cans and wondered for what they had been donated and the answer was found!
  • Cushions are made for IDPs
  • Dolls are made for the IDP shelters (made from yarn or scraps of leftover fabric)

In an expression of appreciation, I was presented a thank you gift of each item made. There was also a plaque and medal that was presented by the local administration expressing their appreciation for the tremendous number of items we have shipped to help the suffering.

The fact that I can communicate the Lord’s compassion to those struggling with the horrors of war, brings relief to some degree in their traumas. THANK YOU for your support and donations that makes this possible.
